Hebrews 10:25
Let us not give up the habit of meeting together, as some are doing. Instead, let us encourage one another all the more, since you see that the Day of the Lord is coming nearer.
WHY COMMUNITY LIFE IS IMPORTANT?
1. God is present in a community
- Mat 18:20
For where two or three come together in My name, I am there with them.
2. Each one of us belong to each other
- Eph 2:19
…you are now citizens together with God’s people and members of the family of God.
- Rom 12:5
Though we are many, we are one body in union with Christ, and we are all joined to each other as different parts of one body.
3. Community has special meaning for God
- Mat 18:19
And I tell you more: whenever two of you on earth agree about anything you pray for, it will be done for you by My Father in heaven.
4. We need others to grow
- Heb 10:24
Let us be concerned for one another, to help one another to show love and to do good.
- Pro 27:17
People learn from one another, just as iron sharpens iron.
- Eccl 4:9-12
Two are better off than one, because together they can work more effectively. If one of them falls down, the other can help him up. But if someone is alone and falls, it’s just too bad, because there is no one to help him. If it is cold, two can sleep together and stay warm, but how can you keep warm by yourself? Two people can resist an attack that would defeat one person alone.
5. Community as our identity

I pray that they may all be one. Father! May they be in us, just as You are in me and I am in You. May they be one, so that the world will believe that You sent me.

If you have love for one another, then everyone will know that you are My disciples.
6. Duty of service in the community
- 1 Peter 4:10
Each one, as a good manager of God’s different gifts, must use for the good of others the special gift he has received from God.
- 1 Cor 12:5,27
There are different ways of serving, but the same Lord is served… All of you are Christ’s body and each one is a part of it.
