33 AD.
Soon after witnessing the glorious Ascension of Jesus, the disciples were filled with hope and faith. They gathered together “in one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with Mother Mary” (cf. Acts 1:14), praying with expectation for the coming of the Holy Spirit, as promised by Jesus
“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8)
This was the beginning of the Church’s most ancient novena prayer, Novena to the Holy Spirit – the “Pentecost Novena”.

2008 AD.
That same promise of Jesus to His disciples is echoed today by the successor of Peter, Pope Benedict XVI, to all young people of the Church, in the occasion of the World Youth Day (WYD) 2008, inviting young people to open their hearts to the person of the Holy Spirit and to commit themselves wholeheartedly to the mission of the Church in the world.
Sunday
11 May 2008
The year 2008 also marks the 41st Anniversary of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (CCR) and at the same time ends the first 40-year of the Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church. The beginning of this 2nd 40-year period is deemed as a significant moment, especially for SACCRE Youth, as part of the “Joshua Generation” of the CCR worldwide (cf. Deutronomy 34; Joshua 1).
With this joy and gratitude, SACCRE Youth invites you to join us praying the “Pentecost Novena”; starting from the Friday after the Ascension (2 May 2008) until the eve of Pentecost (10 May 2008) as a preparation for the Pentecost 2008.
